Somewhere in Paris

Feel a different vibe today - like the new surroundings are settling in around me - or likely the other way round. Went to the Buddha Bar last night; Ravin, my favorite deejay from that series was spinning - was pretty awesome. The bar itself, as expected, was intent on creating an elusive eastern mystique, the patrons taking their responsiblity of looking beautiful, exclusive, trendy and semi bored pretty seriously. We sipped on our 12 Euro drinks soaking it all but not giving into it all. It got wilder as Ravin progressed from the Dinner to Drink genre, but, observation here: the french cannot dance. They are way too self conscious, especially around the swayey flowey eastern electronic fusion style. The clubs we hit in London showed a higher energy crowd but equally jerky - like everyone was on speedy highs. Chi does not flow in London and Paris clubs. Anyway, we gave them something to talk about - after several 12 euro mojitinis, I guess we found our chi, so to speak, and got down to some serious san francisco-berkeley style tantric flow-progressive-electrojazz moves. We figured we're not going back to the buddha bar anytime soon. They loved it by the way and promptly at 2 we made a stylish exit. We ruled! and the Buddha would understand that to get to the other side of suffering, one has to experience it all before letting go of it all. I hope...
So, it seems the french love life, love eating, drinking, people watching, shopping and looking good. They seem extremely self conscious but without losing self confidence. And they speak softly through it all. So they are into having fun, we are into being functional; they love being seen; we love being heard (and how...spot the american is a game that gets over pretty quickly here). And the english, they just love staying libated 24x7...

I guess the bottom line is we're all seeking the resources that will allow us a long love affair with life. And it seems we are all struggling to find the fastest and least painful possible way - since it's too hard to dive in and seek it from within.
